Spectacular Science with Sofia! Welcomes You
Spreading STEM throughout our community!
My Background
Welcome! Here on this website I will have all the ideas, updated each month, for amazing science experiments to do with your kids, students, or friends! My name is Sofia and I'm in middle school! I am training as a CSO (Chief Science Officer), I am trained to teach and demonstrate science lessons and experiments. I am here to share the easy ways to do fun science experiments to teach those around you, and to expand their creativity and imagination!

Dancing rice is a really fun experiment! This experiment is more of a chemistry related experiment! This fantastic science experiment teaches kids all about chemical reactions. What's awesome about dancing rice is that you can do it so many ways with so many things! Check out the slideshow to see what the different possibilities are!
Toothpick and Marshmallow Towers are a very fun way to teach kids on balance and about the real world. Engineers and scientists have to find ways to make what they are creating, adaptable to its outside environment. Engineers and construction workers make towers, towers aren't as simple as they look. Its all about balance, weight, and direction. This hands on experiment is a fun way to teach kids all about stability.
Wanna have a spectacular competition with your kids or students!? Egg drops are one of the best ways to challenge your kids or students to expand their engineering masterminds and to learn all about the job of an engineer. Engineers are people who design and build things and kids tend to be very good at that, especially at a young age its best to expand their creativity. For the egg drop, you can do a hard boiled egg or just raw! The supplies for this experiment really depends on what's available. Straws, plastic plates, tape, toilet paper roles, cardboard, rubber bands. Anything really. But this cant be that easy, right? Well there are some basic rules to egg dropping. it depends on how far you are dropping it from. If its really high it depends on the impact and then that leads to how much material you need to prevent the intense impact on the landing. Its all about figuring out all of the possibilities. Now go and inspire some young minds!

Color Symphony
This experiment truly shows how cool color really is! This experiment is fun for all ages and is super easy to do.
Directions:
First you are going to need either a bowl, deep pan, or some sort of pan - like appliance to hold the liquid - then you will need white milk, food coloring, dish soap, and Q - tips.
After you have collected all of your materials your first step is to fill whatever appliance you have with 1 - 2 inches of milk. Then take your food coloring and drop some of it on the milk - feel free to mix it with your finger the tiniest bit if the food coloring is thick ( but not too much! )
Your last step is to take your Q - tip and dip the tip of it in dish soap, then touch the Q - tip to the milk with the food coloring and watch the magic of chemical reactions happen!
